In 1984, our founder, Brent Cameron, registered the organization called SelfDesign® Learning Foundation with the Province of British Columbia. His goal: to provide choice in education for families and learners of all ages across B.C. and beyond by putting learners at the centre of their own learning.
Over the years since SelfDesign has held true to the principle at the heart of Brent’s vision: lifelong personalized learning. Through all the programs and services we’ve offered — WonderTree, SelfDesign Learning Community, SelfDesign Virtual High, Support Education, SelfDesign Global, SelfDesign Graduate Institute, and more — we’ve approached learning as a natural, instinctual process that happens in every moment and everywhere.
SelfDesign Learning Foundation’s 40th anniversary is just around the corner
In 2024, we’ll be celebrating the creation of this amazing organization that has made such a difference in the lives of so many people.
We’ll be launching exciting events and initiatives to mark this important milestone and the four decades of “Lifelong Personalized Learning” that followed. There’ll be contests, new videos, features on the SelfDesign Blog, additions to our website, a commemorative book, and more!
And we need your help!
We’re asking all members of our community — current and former learners, parents, educators, contractors, board members and others — to take part in any or all of the following ways:
Share your memories, stories and photographs of SelfDesign!
We’d love to feature them on our Blog, in videos, and in the commemorative book. If you have a memory, story or photo you’d like to share, please let us know by completing this form.
Spread the word about our anniversary t-shirt design contest to SelfDesign learners!
Later this year, we’re launching a contest for current SelfDesign learners to design a t-shirt to mark our 40th anniversary. Details to come.
Spread the word to SelfDesign alumni and former SelfDesign families and colleagues!
So many people have helped shape SelfDesign over the past four decades. We want to acknowledge their contributions and include their memories and stories, too. Reach out to former SelfDesign alumni, families and colleagues, and encourage them to share their memories, stories and photographs of SelfDesign by sharing this form.
