This October our HomeLearners Network program has some awesome activities that will help your child develop diverse skills in writing, photography, yoga and more!

Many of the activities are wonderful for working with peers and making new home learning buddies like Fall Play, Theatre Games and Collaborative Storytelling

📝 The Great Writing Challenge with Alecyn: October 1 (8 sessions)

    • Ages 11-14

Your kid will have an awesome way of celebrating National Novel Writing Month by learning to plan, worldbuild, and develop characters. In November, they’ll share progress and do fun writing prompts!

    • Ages 9-12

Unlock your kiddo’s picture-taking powers in this activity! They’ll learn photography techniques like composition, lighting and subject selection while experimenting with photo editing using their phones.

🍁 Fall Play with Alecyn: October 3 (6 sessions)

    • Ages 9-14

Your kiddo will join their peers in writing, directing and acting in their own mystery-themed theatrical production! They’ll practice vocal drills, create fun costumes, and perform in a spectacular Zoom production for families on the final day.

    • Ages 10-13

Your kid will love playing games like checkers, chess, and Crazy 8s while making friends and sharpening their problem-solving skills.

📒 Collaborative Storytelling with April: October 4

    • Ages 11-14

Kids will learn about storytelling structure and work with their peers to bring imaginative tales to life. They’ll learn about crucial storytelling components like exposition, rising action, climax, falling action and resolution to create the perfect story!

🧘🏿 October Monday 9 a.m (Pacific time) Yoga with Sarah: October 7 (4 sessions)

    • Ages 8-12

Your kid will build their yoga practice while learning about muscle groups, deepening their breath and developing techniques to calm their nervous systems!

🤟🏽 ASL Learning Adventures with Jenna:

    • Ages 5-9: October 7, 15, 21, or 28 (come to one or all!)
    • Ages 10-14: October 1, 8, 16, 22 (come to one or all!)

Unlock a world of expression by learning American Sign Language (ASL)! Your kiddo will learn to sign the alphabet, discover new signs, and practice basic conversations while having fun.

    • Ages 9-12

Your kiddo will love connecting with other home learners while building their confidence! They’ll play weekly theatre games and expand their dramatic skills while moving their bodies!

Your kid will dive into calligraphy styles and learn the history behind them! They’ll explore the beautiful art of letter writing and learn about calligraphy traditions from around the world!
