In September 2020, all BC schools, including SelfDesign, will reopen in Stage 2 of the Five Stages Framework for K-12 Education. Using the guidance of the Provincial Health Officer, the Ministry of Education, and WorkSafeBC, we are launching a set of protocols and procedures to protect the health of family members and contractors in our community during the COVID-19 pandemic. SelfDesign’s 5 stages of return to in-person activities outlines the activities permitted in each stage with the corresponding protocols to keep everyone safe. Starting on August 31, under enhanced hygiene, cleaning, and density protocols, the following activities are allowed:
- Providing in-person support in learners’ homes or outdoors.
- Providing in-person support at places of business, such as offices, sports gyms, music studios, etc., provided that the support providers follow the health and safety measures outlined by the Public Health Officer, WorkSafeBC and the Ministry of Health.
- Annual Learning Consultant visits with families.
- Limited in-person camps/activities.
If a learner, family member or contractor is sick, stay at home. If a participant needs to cancel an in-person meeting due to concerning symptoms, SelfDesign encourages families and SelfDesign contractors to substitute online learning sessions where possible during the pandemic.
